Starting on 1 December, Sofia Correia de Barros formally takes up the role of Portugal country manager.

Sofia has a degree in Applied Mathematics to Economy and Management from ISEG, and holds a MBA by Universidade Nova, both in Portugal. With a career spanning over two decades, she started in the financial sector, with BPI Funds and Banco BEST, working her way up to senior positions in fund management and capital markets.

In 2003, Sofia joined McKinsey, where she was exposed to different industries and led operational, financial and continuous improvement projects for the private and public healthcare sector. After that, she worked for José de Mello Saúde/ CUF, the largest private healthcare provider in Portugal and where she held several senior management positions. Sofia now joins us from Pestana Group, Portugal's largest international tourism and leisure group, for whom she managed operations for all units in North and South America.

Sofia's experience, multidisciplinary knowledge and successful project delivery track record puts her in a great position to continue growing the business in Portugal, allowing us to enhance the lives of more patients who need life enhancing renal care. She lives in Lisbon, where she'll be based, and has three children.
